Sears September Comparable Store Sales Increase 3.0 Percent
Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S) today announced total domestic store revenues for the five weeks ending September 30, 2000 were $2.63 billion. Comparable domestic store revenues increased 3.0 percent. Total domestic store revenues increased 4.2 percent compared to $2.53 billion for the five weeks ending October 2, 1999.
"Our sales results continue to show strong performance in our hardlines, specialty store and several of our softlines businesses," said President and Chief Executive Officer Alan J. Lacy. "Home appliances, sporting goods, fine jewelry and footwear all continued their positive sales trends. The company's specialty stores also performed well, led by strong increases in Sears Auto Centers and NTB National Tire & Battery stores and The Great Indoors."
